What does it mean to "Raise the Vibration"?

You've probably heard people say "Spread Good Vibes" or "Good Vibes Only". Maybe you’ve seen it written across a mug or tank top at your yoga studio. We're always told to "stay positive" and can probably all attest to the power of positive thinking. But what does it mean to actually raise the vibration? This goes beyond simply thinking positive thoughts.

“Mass and energy are both but different manifestations of the same thing." -Albert Einstein

Everything in the Universe is energy, oscillating at a certain vibrational frequency. That means that every single person on the planet is emitting a certain vibration, and these vibrations can be high or low.

In the 1970s, Dr. David Hawkins developed a test for measuring vibrations, or “levels of consciousness,” on a scale of 1-1000. In his book, Power v. Force, Hawkins says that any person, concept, thought, or object calibrating at 200 or above is positive (“power”), and anything below 200 is negative (“force”).

See below a map of the different levels of consciousness:

When you are vibrating at a high level of consciousness, you might feel positive emotions like joy, gratitude, and love. If you are going to remember one thing, remember this: your vibration determines the type of situations and events you attract into your life. If something bad happened to you, for example, and you can’t stop thinking about it and re-playing it in your mind, not only will your perception of reality be a negative one, but you will continue to attract negative experiences into your life for as long as you maintain that negative vibration. On the contrary, when you feel joyful, grateful, and loving, you will attract situations into your life that give you more to be grateful for, for as long as you stay on that high vibration.

According to Hawkins, when one’s consciousness falls below 200 at any given moment, you start to lose power and therefore become more prone to being manipulated by your surroundings. If someone tells you “you’re stupid,” or “you’ll never get better,” that will more easily affect you if you were already on a low vibration. On a high vibration, however, negative energy has a minimal affect on you, if any. You have a lot of power, therefore, to lift up other peoples’ vibrations and, in turn, the vibration of the planet.

Hawkins states that 85% of the human race calibrates below the critical level of 200. This can explain why we see so many problems on the planet. On the bright side, the power of the few individuals on very high vibrations counterbalances the weakness of the masses. According to Hawkins, 1 individual at level 300 counterbalances 90,000 individuals below level 200. 12 individuals at level 700 equal one Avatar (e.g. Jesus, Buddha, Krishna) at level 1,000.

Knowing that we all individually are emitting a certain vibration that is not only affecting our lives, but the entire planet—what do we do?

We Raise the Vibration!

Every single one of us has so much power to make this world a great place. It all starts with yourself. When you focus on being grateful for everything in your life; when you act loving towards other humans; when you practice forgiveness if someone wrongs you; when you have trust that no matter what is going on in this moment, it will get better; you are already raising your vibration and having a positive impact on the planet. And that’s what Raise the Vibration is all about.
